Strip testing Instructions
Barbiturate Test Strips Procedure
- Remove the barbiturate test from each sealed pouch and use it as soon as possible. For best results, the ovulation test should be performed within one hour.
- Hold the barbiturate test strip by the end, where the product name is printed. To avoid contamination, do not touch the strip membrane.
- Holding the strip vertically, dip the barbiturate test strip in the urine specimen for at least 10-15 seconds. Do not immerse past maximum line (MAX) on the test strip.
- As the test begins to work, the color will migrate across the membrane.
- After the barbiturate test strip has finished running, remove the strip from the specimen and place it on a non-absorbent flat surface. Start the timer and wait for the colored band(s) to appear. The result should be read at 3 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 10 minutes.
How To Interpret Barbiturate Test Strip Results

Positive
Only one colored band appears, in the control region ©. No apparent colored band appears in the test region (T).
Negative
Two colored bands appear on the membrane. One band appears in the control regions © and another band appears in the test region (T).
Invalid
The control band fails to appear. Results from any test which has not produced a control band at the specified read time must be discarded. Please review the procedure and repeat with a new test. If the problems persist, discontinue using the kit immediately and contact your local distributor.

Forensic Applications Only gadgets are not designed, tested, manufactured, or labeled for use in other settings such as clinical diagnostics or the workplace.
What does it mean when something says “For Forensic Use Only”?
This indicates that the drug testing gadget has not received FDA 510k approval. This type of drug test should not be used for job screening, pain management screening, or any other reason. These tests are only used in law enforcement, prisons, the military, and other government institutions to test for drugs.

How To Use
Why do some people take barbiturates to get high?
Barbiturates are sedatives that help individuals sleep and relax. As a result, doctors recommend them to patients who require more rest and relaxation. Additionally, stimulant drug users, such as amphetamine users, require them to relax or sleep.
The issue is that some people grow addicted to barbiturates. As a result, they become addicted to the medicine and eventually develop resistance to it. They will need to take more medicines if this occurs. Overdosing is most likely to occur at this point.
What exactly are Barbiturates?
Barbiturates are central nervous depressants. They reduce the activity of nerves causing muscle relaxation. They can reduce heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure. All barbiturates affect gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter (chemical) that nerves use to communicate with one another.
Do barbiturates show up on a drug test?
The general standard is that barbiturates can show up in urine for two to four days, and one to two days in the blood. In some cases, barbiturates may be detectable for up to six weeks in urine and up to three months.
What are barbiturates uses?
- anxiety and sedation related to surgery (if other drugs are not effective)
- insomnia (rarely)
- seizures (if other drugs haven’t worked)
- anesthesia
- tension headaches
- traumatic brain injury (TBI)
What is barbiturates on a drug test?
The most common benzodiazepines include diazepam (Valium), alprazolam (Xanax), lorazepam (Ativan), temazepam (Restoril), and clonazepam (Klonopin). Many of these and others will show drug test positive for barbiturates.
